VOLVO
DEM-U041568 - Invalid Data Received From Anti-Lock Brake System Control Module. Algorithm Based Failures. Event information
System
Differential Electronic Module (DEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
8 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is named after the anti-lock brake system control module, the signal concerns the brake control module (BCM), which sends information about the braking system to the four-wheel drive. The code is set when the DEM is told that the information from the BCM is incorrect. It is an event-controlled code, meaning information rather than a fault in the DEM, and the fault should be traced in the brake control module.
Possible causes
- Fault in the brake control module (BCM), which sends out incorrect information
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault codes in the brake control module first and remedy them. The code is a follow-on fault and can be cleared once the root fault has been remedied
- 2Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the wheel speeds in live data during a test drive and check that they follow each other at steady speed
- 4The braking system is safety-critical: if the brakes feel different or the fault remains, have a workshop check the brake control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- Four-wheel drive does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Four-wheel drive has reduced function
