Applies to the following models:

Show models by year and engine (3)
What does this fault code mean?
The four-wheel drive control module (DEM) monitors the information from other control modules and uses the wheel speeds from the brake control module (BCM) to distribute torque to the rear axle. The code is set when the BCM sends incorrect wheel speeds. It is an event-controlled code, meaning information, and the fault is traced in the brake control module.
Possible causes
- Wheel speed values from the BCM that are wrong
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault codes in the CEM and the brake control module first and remedy them. This code can be cleared once they are remedied
- 2Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the wheel speeds in live data during a test drive and check that all four follow each other
- 4The braking system is safety-critical: if the brakes feel different or the fault remains, have a workshop check the brake control module and the wheel sensors
Symptoms you may notice1
- Four-wheel drive does not work
