What does this fault code mean?
The all-wheel drive control module (DEM) has not received the vehicle configuration it expects from the central electronic module (CEM), so the initial configuration has not been completed. The code is set when the information is missing after the ignition has been switched on. It is most often a communication fault on the car's data network.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the car's data network (CAN)
- Fault in the central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the central electronic module and other control modules, as they are often linked
- 2Check that the battery and its terminals are in good condition, since voltage drops can disturb the data network
- 3With diagnostic equipment check the data network and the connectors between the modules
- 4Do not replace the central electronic module until a workshop has investigated the data network and confirmed an internal fault
Symptoms you may notice1
- No clear symptoms for the driver
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
