What does this fault code mean?
The four-wheel drive control module (DEM) compares its own configuration with the vehicle configuration reported by the central electronic module (CEM). If the configurations do not agree, the code is set. The fault may lie in the central electronic module or in the software that has been downloaded to the four-wheel drive control module.
Possible causes
- Incorrect vehicle configuration data in the central electronic module (CEM)
- Incorrect software downloaded to the four-wheel drive control module (DEM)
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault codes, note them and clear them. Test drive the vehicle to see if the code returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the vehicle configuration and note it for the workshop
- 4If the control module or the central electronic module has recently been replaced, tell the workshop, since a control module from another vehicle causes this code
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop load new software into the control module and, if needed, the central electronic module, then check the fault codes
