Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC70 Cabriolet (1998–2005), C70 Coupé (1998–2002), S70 (1997–2000), V70 (1997–2000), V70 XC (1998–2000)
What does this fault code mean?
The instrument cluster (DIM) is not receiving a vehicle speed signal. Speed is calculated by the ABS control module and sent to the cluster over the car's data network (CAN). If the signal is missing for a while with the engine running, the code is set and the speedometer stops reading.
Possible causes
- Communication fault on the car's data network (CAN)
- Fault in the ABS control module
- Fault in the instrument cluster
What you can do
- 1Read codes in the ABS module and other modules too – communication and ABS faults should be dealt with first
- 2Check whether the ABS warning lamp is on; if so, the cause most likely lies in the ABS system
- 3Check the battery and its connections, as low voltage can disturb the data network
- 4If the fault remains, have the data network and the cluster diagnosed by a workshop
Symptoms you may notice1
- The speedometer does not work
