What does this fault code mean?
The driver information module (DIM) and the control modules in the vehicle use shared parameters that must be up to date and defined in order to work together. The code is set when any of these parameters is missing or not updated. The fault may be a communication fault, or software that was incorrectly downloaded to the central electronic module (CEM).
Possible causes
- Communication fault
- Software wrongly downloaded to the central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault codes, note them and clear them. Switch the ignition off and on, and see if the fault returns
- 2Check that the battery is in good condition and that the fuses are intact, since weak voltage can cause faults at start-up
- 3Has anything recently been done to the electrical system, such as a battery change or a software update? Tell the workshop
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, check that the central electronic module and the instrument respond to diagnostic commands
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the communication and load the correct software into the central electronic module
Symptoms you may notice2
- The driver information module (DIM) does not function
- The information lamp flashes at each start-up
