What does this fault code mean?
On cars with a saddle tank there are two fuel level sensors. The driver information module (DIM) adds the signals from them to get the total fuel level in the tank. If the signals differ too much, the code is set, and a damaged ejector in the tank may be the cause. The fault may be temporary or permanent.
Possible causes
- Damaged ejector in the fuel tank
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault code and note whether it is permanent or has cleared. If it has cleared, no action is needed
- 2Refuel, or use some fuel, and see whether the fuel gauge changes smoothly
- 3Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fuel level in live data while driving and check whether it jumps or stays still
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the ejector in the tank and replace it if needed
Symptoms you may notice1
- Fuel gauge shows the wrong level
