What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is named mechanical fault, it concerns an open circuit to the loudspeaker in the instrument panel. The instrument checks its internal parts, and the code is set when the loudspeaker does not work. No warning chimes are then heard from the instrument.
Possible causes
- Open circuit between the loudspeaker and the instrument panel
What you can do
- 1Switch the ignition on and listen for the warning chime from the instrument
- 2Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 3Check the connection to the instrument and follow the wire for chafing and loose connections
- 4Clear the fault code and test drive the vehicle. If the fault returns, have a workshop replace the instrument panel
