Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The instrument panel checks its own system voltage, and the code is set when the voltage stays too low for a certain time. The cause is a supply wire shorted to ground or an open circuit. The text window, trip computer and gauges may then show faults or stop working.
Possible causes
- Voltage supply wire shorted to ground
- Open circuit in the voltage supply wire
What you can do
- 1Check whether other low-voltage fault codes are stored, and remedy them first
- 2Check that the battery is in good condition and that the battery terminals are secure
- 3Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 4Check the connectors at the instrument and at the battery for oxidation, play and loose fit
- 5Follow the supply wire to the instrument for chafing and pinched areas, and use a multimeter to confirm it has no contact with ground (body)
- 6Clear the fault code and test drive the vehicle. If the fault remains, have a workshop carry out a battery test and trace the supply
Symptoms you may notice3
- The text window and warning symbol do not work as they should
- The trip computer does not work
- The gauges show faults
