What does this fault code mean?
The voltage on the CAN-H wire is too low, which indicates that the wire is shorted to ground. The fault is intermittent, meaning it has occurred before but does not always show. Because the CAN network is shared by several control modules, the fault can disturb communication between them.
Possible causes
- CAN-H wire shorted to ground
- Fault in the instrument panel
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault codes, note them and clear them. Test drive the vehicle to see if the fault returns
- 2Follow the CAN-H wire for chafing, pinched areas and places where it may have touched the body
- 3Use a multimeter to confirm the CAN-H wire has no contact with ground (body)
- 4Check the connectors at the instrument for oxidation and loose fit
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop investigate the CAN network, as this requires measurements in the wiring
Symptoms you may notice1
- No functions work
