What does this fault code mean?
The instrument checks its own configuration ID against the signal setup that the central electronic module (CEM) transmits on the CAN network. If the IDs do not match, or if communication with the CEM has been interrupted, the code is set. The instrument then responds to diagnostic commands but does not work normally on the network. A wrong ID can mean the part is not intended for this particular vehicle.
Possible causes
- Incorrect configuration ID, because the instrument is not intended for the vehicle, for example a used part with other software or hardware
- Open circuit in the CAN wiring between the instrument and the central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault codes, note them and clear them. Test drive the vehicle to see if the fault returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 3Follow the CAN wiring between the instrument and the central electronic module for chafing, pinched areas and loose connectors
- 4Tell the workshop if the instrument has recently been replaced, since a used part with the wrong software can cause this fault
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the configuration and load the correct software into the instrument if needed
