Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is named fuel level sensor B circuit, it concerns sensor B having jammed. The instrument notices that the fuel gauge level does not change while driving, and then sets the code. This gives an incorrect fuel level on the gauge, and the trip computer distance to empty and consumption values may also be wrong.
Possible causes
- The fuel level sensor has jammed
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault code and note whether it is permanent or has cleared. If it has cleared, no action is needed
- 2Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, compare the fuel level in live data with the reading on the fuel gauge while driving
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check sensor B in the tank and replace it if needed
Symptoms you may notice4
- The fuel level is shown incorrectly
- The trip computer distance to empty is shown incorrectly
- The trip computer consumption values are shown incorrectly
- The fuel gauge shows a value that is too high or too low
