What does this fault code mean?
The instrument cluster (DIM) gets no reply from the supplemental restraint system module (SRS), and the communication between them stops. The airbag system's warnings may then not be shown correctly in the instrument cluster.
Possible causes
- Break in the communication wire
- The communication wire is shorted to earth
- The communication wire is shorted to supply voltage
- Poor contact, oxidation or breaks in the connections
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code with a diagnostic tool, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact. Their location is in the owner's manual or the fuse list
- 3Note whether the airbag warning lamp comes on at start-up or after a road test, and when this happens
- 4Do not work on the airbag system yourself. It can be dangerous without the right training. Have a workshop check the wiring and the airbag control module
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the communication with the supplemental restraint system
Symptoms you may notice2
- A yellow symbol and a text message appear in the instrument cluster
- The airbag warning lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
