What does this fault code mean?
The instrument cluster (DIM) gets no reply from the parking assistance module (PAM), and the communication between them stops. The parking assistance therefore cannot show its warnings or status in the instrument cluster.
Possible causes
- Break in the communication wire
- The communication wire is shorted to earth
- The communication wire is shorted to supply voltage
- Poor contact, oxidation or breaks in the connections
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuse for the parking assistance is intact. Its location is in the owner's manual or the fuse list
- 2Reverse slowly toward an obstacle and listen for the parking assistance audible signal. If it does not sound at all, the system is probably not working
- 3Read the fault code with a diagnostic tool, clear it and check whether it returns
- 4Check the connectors and the wiring to the parking sensors for chafing and pinch damage
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the parking assistance module and the communication
