What does this fault code mean?
The instrument cluster (DIM) receives signals from the transmission control module (TCM) with a lower quality than it can accept, so the gear indicator may show the wrong gear or not work. The fault usually lies in the transmission control module and not in the instrument cluster.

- The fault probably lies in the transmission control module (TCM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact and that the connectors to the instrument cluster and the transmission control module are fully engaged and not corroded
- 2Road test the car and note whether the gear indicator matches the selected gear, and when the fault occurs
- 3Read the fault code with a diagnostic tool, clear it and check whether it returns
- 4If the code returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment investigate the transmission control module, since the signal comes from there
- 5Do not replace the instrument cluster until a workshop has shown the fault lies there
