What does this fault code mean?
The instrument cluster (DIM) has received invalid or incorrect information about the car's configuration. The information normally comes from the central electronic module, so warnings, gauges and functions in the instrument cluster may show faults.
Possible causes
- Incorrect information about the car's configuration, coming from the central electronic module
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes. If the fault code for the central electronic module is also present, deal with that first
- 2Check that the connectors to the instrument cluster and the central electronic module are fully engaged and not corroded
- 3Switch the ignition off, switch it on again and see whether the instrument cluster starts working as usual
- 4Have a workshop load new software into the central electronic module. The instrument cluster must then also receive new software, so it is best done in the same visit
- 5After the work, read the fault codes again and check that the code does not return
Symptoms you may notice4
- A warning lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
- A text message appears in the instrument cluster
- The trip computer does not work
- A gauge shows a fault or does not work
