DIM-U300044 - Control Module. System Internal Failures. Data memory failure
System
Driver Information Module (DIM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The instrument cluster (DIM) has detected a fault in its data memory, the part where it stores its information. This is an internal fault in the instrument cluster and not a communication problem with other modules. It can cause faults in the trip computer, the gauges and several other functions.
Possible causes
- The data memory of the instrument cluster is damaged
What you can do
- 1Do not drive the car if the brake pedal feels heavier than usual, the steering lock does not work or the engine starts unreliably. Have a workshop check the car first
- 2Read the fault code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 3Check that the fuses for the instrument cluster are intact and that the connectors are fully engaged
- 4If the fault comes back straight after clearing, the instrument cluster is probably damaged
- 5Have a workshop replace the instrument cluster and check that the fault does not return once the new unit is programmed for the car
Symptoms you may notice5
- The engine does not start or starts unreliably
- A text and a warning symbol appear in the instrument cluster
- The trip computer does not work
- The steering lock does not work
- The brake pedal needs more force than usual
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
