What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module checks the fuel volume control valve by adapting the valve. If the valve does not work correctly during this adaptation, the code is set. The fault can be tested with the engine running while the adaptation is active, and it can cause poor performance or lost power because the engine speed is limited.
Possible causes
- Poor contact, contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Break in the power supply to the valve
- Break in the signal wire
- The signal wire is shorted to earth or supply voltage
- Blocked fuel lines
- Damaged fuel volume control valve
What you can do
- 1Check that the connector to the fuel volume control valve is fully seated and dry and clean, with no play
- 2Measure with a multimeter that the wires to the valve have no break and are not shorted to earth or supply voltage
- 3The fuel system is under very high pressure, with a risk of injury. Checking the fuel path from the tank, filter and pump is therefore left to a workshop
- 4Clear the fault code and road test the car. If it returns although the connectors are in order, have a workshop replace the valve
- 5If the fault only appears under certain conditions, note when it happens so that the workshop can reproduce it
Symptoms you may notice2
- The car has poor performance or lacks power
- A text and a warning symbol appear in the instrument cluster
What the fault can affect1
- The engine speed is limited
