What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has recorded a signal from the fuel volume control valve that is higher than expected, or that the valve draws too much current. It can cause poor performance and lack of power, because the engine speed is limited while the code is active.
Possible causes
- The signal wire is shorted to supply voltage
- Damaged fuel volume control valve
What you can do
- 1Check the wires to the fuel volume control valve for chafing and pinch damage, especially where they may have touched a supply wire
- 2Measure with a multimeter that the signal wire is not shorted to battery voltage with the ignition on
- 3The fuel system is under very high pressure, so the valve itself should be replaced by a workshop
- 4Clear the fault code and road test the car. If it returns and no wiring fault has been found, have a workshop replace the fuel volume control valve
- 5Note whether the fault appears after the car has been running for a while, so the workshop can reproduce it
