ECM-000A
VOLVO
ECM-000A - Atmospheric pressure signal of control unit. Internal fault. Permanent fault.
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
4 modelsS70 (1997–2000), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (1997–2000), V70 (2000–2008)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has found a fault in its reference voltage for atmospheric pressure, and the fault is permanent, meaning it is present right now. It is an internal fault in the engine control module. The engine may stall or fail to start, and the module then uses substitute values for air pressure.
Possible causes
- Fault in the engine control module reference voltage
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes and clear them. If the code comes straight back the fault is still present, and the engine control module is the likely cause
- 2Check that the fuses for the engine control module are intact and that the connectors are fully engaged and clean
- 3Avoid driving the car until a workshop has assessed whether it is safe to drive, since the engine may stall or fail to start
- 4Replacing the engine control module is a workshop task, and the new module must be programmed for the car
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment confirm the fault before the module is replaced
Symptoms you may notice2
- The engine stalls
- The engine does not start
What the fault can affect2
- Only basic boost pressure is allowed
- The air pressure value is calculated from the boost pressure
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
