ECM-000D
VOLVO
ECM-000D - Reference voltage of control unit. Internal fault. Intermittent fault.
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
4 modelsS70 (1997–2000), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (1997–2000), V70 (2000–2008)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has recorded a fault in its internal reference voltage. The fault is intermittent. The module has detected the fault on an earlier occasion but has since found that it is no longer present. While the code is active the engine may stall or fail to start, and the module then uses substitute values for boost pressure.
Possible causes
- Fault in the engine control module reference voltage
What you can do
- 1Clear the fault code and road test the car. If it does not return, the fault was temporary and is not active at the moment
- 2If it returns, note when it appears, for example at start-up or after a while of driving
- 3Check that the battery and its cables are in good condition, since weak or unstable voltage can cause this kind of fault
- 4Check that the fuses for the engine control module are intact and that the connectors are fully engaged
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop investigate the engine control module. Replacement is a workshop task and the new module must be programmed for the car
Symptoms you may notice2
- The engine stalls
- The engine does not start
What the fault can affect2
- Only basic boost pressure is allowed
- The air pressure value is calculated from the boost pressure
