ECM-0012
VOLVO
ECM-0012 - A/C linear pressure sensor. Power supply too low. Intermittent fault.
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
4 modelsS70 (1997–2000), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (1997–2000), V70 (2000–2008)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module receives too low a supply voltage to the A/C pressure sensor. The fault is intermittent, meaning it comes and goes, and may not be present right now. The sensor measures the pressure in the climate system, and while the fault is active the system may give no cooling.
Possible causes
- The supply wire is shorted to earth
- Break in the signal or supply wire
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Faulty A/C pressure sensor
- Refrigerant is missing or too low in the A/C system
What you can do
- 1Check the wires and connector to the A/C pressure sensor for contact resistance, chafing and corrosion
- 2Measure with a multimeter that the supply wire to the sensor is not shorted to earth and has no break
- 3Switch on the A/C and see whether it cools. If it does not cool at all, note that and at what engine speed
- 4Refrigerant may only be handled by a workshop with the right equipment, so topping up or checking the amount is left to them
- 5Clear the fault code and road test the car. If it returns, have a workshop investigate the A/C pressure sensor and the A/C system
Symptoms you may notice1
- No cooling from the climate system
