Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
3 modelsS70 (1997–2000), V70 (1997–2000), V70 (2000–2008)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has recorded that the signal to the A/C relay is too low. The fault is intermittent, meaning it comes and goes, and may not be present right now. The A/C system may therefore not work.
Possible causes
- The signal wire is shorted to earth
- Break in the signal or supply wire
- Faulty A/C relay
What you can do
- 1Check the wires and connectors to the A/C relay for play, chafing and corrosion
- 2Check the A/C relay and its socket for contact resistance and oxidation. The relay should sit firmly in the socket with no play
- 3Measure with a multimeter that the signal wire is not shorted to earth and has no break
- 4Clear the fault code and switch on the A/C. If it returns, have a workshop replace the A/C relay if it is faulty
- 5Check the fuses for the A/C system. Their location is in the owner's manual or the fuse list
Symptoms you may notice1
