What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has detected a fault in its internal memory circuit. The fault is intermittent, and the module has recorded it on an earlier occasion but has since found that it is no longer present. While the code is active the engine may fail to start. The fault lies in the engine control module itself.
Possible causes
- Fault in the engine control module's internal memory circuit
What you can do
- 1Clear the fault code and road test the car. If it does not return, the fault is not active at the moment
- 2If it returns, note whether the engine starts worse after the car has stood for a long time, so a workshop can reproduce the fault
- 3Check that the fuses for the engine control module are intact and that its supply is stable
- 4Check that the connectors to the engine control module are fully engaged and dry
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop read the module and replace it if needed. The new module must be programmed for the car
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine does not start
