Applies to the following models:

What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module cannot communicate correctly with the immobiliser, and the code is set when the communication between them fails. The fault is intermittent, meaning it comes and goes. A common cause is that the module and the immobiliser come from different cars and therefore do not accept each other, in which case the system cuts off the fuel supply.
Possible causes
- Fault in the circuit for communication between the engine control module and the immobiliser
- The engine control module and the immobiliser come from different cars and therefore do not accept each other
What you can do
- 1Check that the connectors to the engine control module are fully engaged and clean
- 2If either module has been replaced, have a workshop program it and link it to the immobiliser. This cannot be done by the owner
- 3Clear the fault code and try to start the car. If the fault returns although the connectors are in order, have a workshop check the immobiliser
- 4Note whether the fault only appears after the car has stood for a long time, so that a workshop can reproduce it
- 5Do not change anything in the starting system yourself. Locks and keys are handled by a workshop
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine starts but stalls shortly after starting
What the fault can affect1
- The fuel supply to the injection pump is switched off
