What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has detected a fault in its internal temperature sensor. The fault is intermittent, and the module has recorded it on an earlier occasion but has since found that it is no longer present. It is an internal fault in the engine control module. While the code is active the engine may fail to start.
Possible causes
- Fault in the engine control module's internal temperature sensor
What you can do
- 1Clear the fault code and road test the car. If it does not return, the fault is not active at the moment
- 2If it returns, note the engine temperature and the outside temperature when it appears, so that a workshop can reproduce it
- 3Check that the fuses for the engine control module are intact and that the connectors are fully engaged
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop read the engine control module, since its internal sensor cannot be checked by the owner
- 5Replacing the engine control module is a workshop task, and the new module must be programmed for the car
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine does not start
