What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is named boost pressure sensor, it concerns the signal from the turbo position sensor. The control valve moves the turbine vanes through a pressure box, and the engine control module compares the position sensor signal with how the turbo is being controlled. The fault is stored if the signal is too low for that control.
Possible causes
- Leaking vacuum hoses
- Sticking turbo control valve
- Damaged turbo control valve
- Damaged turbo position sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Check the hoses to the turbo control valve and the pressure box for leaks, chafing and loose connections
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the desired and actual turbo control values in live data during a test drive and see whether they follow each other
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check the position sensor and the turbo control valve
Symptoms you may notice1
- Check engine lamp lights up or behaves abnormally
