What does this fault code mean?
This code is stored when the central electronic module (CEM) holds one or more fault codes, or when the engine control module (ECM) stops receiving CAN signals from the CEM. The fault is intermittent, so it may have occurred without being present now. The cause is often in another module, so the fault codes in the CEM should be read first.
Possible causes
- Fault code in the central electronic module (CEM)
- Communication fault on the CAN bus
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check that the connectors on the CEM are secure and free of corrosion
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the CAN wires have neither a break nor a short to ground or supply voltage
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fault codes in the CEM and fix the root fault first; erase this code last
- 4If you do not have a diagnostic tool, have a workshop read the fault codes in the CEM
