What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has registered a signal that is too high from the turbocharger control valve circuit, which is most often caused by the signal wire touching supply voltage. The valve controls boost pressure, so the fault can affect engine running and limit output.
Possible causes
- Short circuit to supply voltage in the signal wire
- Damaged turbocharger control valve
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, unplug the turbo control valve connector and check the contacts for looseness and oxidation
- 2With the ignition on and the connector unplugged, use a multimeter on the signal wire; voltage there indicates a short to supply voltage
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, activate the turbo control valve and listen for a click from the valve
- 4Have a workshop check and replace the turbo control valve if the wiring is sound
Symptoms you may notice2
- Check engine lamp lights up or behaves abnormally
- Car has poor performance or lacks power
What the fault can affect1
- Engine torque is limited
