What does this fault code mean?
The fuel pressure in the fuel rail was too low when the engine was started. The fault is only checked at start, so it usually shows up then. The causes can be a leak, a blocked fuel filter or fuel system, or a faulty fuel pressure sensor or pressure control valve.
Possible causes
- Leak in the fuel system
- Blocked fuel filter
- Blocked fuel system
- Damaged fuel pressure sensor
- Damaged fuel pressure control valve
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the fuel pump and the engine management are intact
- 2Look for visible fuel leaks at the fuel lines, their connections and at the tank; take care, as the fuel system is under pressure
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fuel pressure in live data when the engine starts and check whether it rises quickly to a normal level
- 4Have a workshop check the fuel filter, the fuel system and the fuel pressure sensor and control valve, since the fuel system operates at high pressure
Symptoms you may notice2
- Engine does not start, it only cranks
- Engine does not start every time, sometimes not at all
