What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module monitors the fuel pressure control valve and has registered that the signal to it is too low. The cause is most often poor contact or a break in the wiring, but the valve itself may also be damaged.
Possible causes
- Loose connections, contact resistance or oxidation at the terminals
- Break in the power supply
- Break in the signal wire
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Damaged fuel pressure control valve
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check the connector to the fuel pressure control valve for looseness, contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the valve does not break when the harness is moved and has no contact with ground
- 3The fuel system operates at very high pressure and can cause injury, so have a workshop carry out all work on the lines and the valve
- 4If the fault returns after erasing codes and a test drive, have a workshop replace the fuel pressure control valve
Symptoms you may notice2
- Car feels weak or performs poorly
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
What the fault can affect1
- Engine speed (RPM) may be limited
