What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module compares the fuel pressure the control valve actually produces with the pressure it has requested. If they do not agree, the code is stored. The cause may be poor contact or wiring faults, blocked fuel lines, or a damaged valve.
Possible causes
- Loose connections, contact resistance or oxidation at the terminals
- Break in the power supply
- Break in the signal wire
- Signal wire shorted to ground or supply voltage
- Blocked fuel lines
- Damaged fuel pressure control valve
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check that the connector at the fuel pressure control valve is secure and not oxidised
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the valve's signal wire has no short to ground or supply voltage, moving the wiring while you measure
- 3The fuel system operates at very high pressure and can cause injury, so have a workshop check the fuel lines, filter and pump
- 4If the fault returns after erasing codes and a test drive, have a workshop replace the fuel pressure control valve
Symptoms you may notice2
- Car feels weak or performs poorly
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
What the fault can affect1
- Engine speed (RPM) may be limited
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
