What does this fault code mean?

The engine control module has registered that the control signal reaching the fuel pressure valve is too weak. Engine speed can be limited because fuel pressure is not under proper control. The usual cause is a break or a short to ground in the wire, or poor contact at the connection.

    Possible causes

    • Loose connections, contact resistance or oxidation at the terminals
    • Break in the power supply to the valve
    • Break in the signal wire
    • Signal wire shorted to ground
    • Damaged fuel pressure control valve

    What you can do

    1. 1With the ignition off, check the connector to the fuel pressure control valve for play, contact resistance and oxidation
    2. 2Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the valve does not break when the harness is moved and has no contact with ground
    3. 3The fuel system is under very high pressure and can cause injury, so have a workshop carry out all work on the fuel lines and the valve
    4. 4If the fault returns after erasing codes and a test drive, have a workshop replace the fuel pressure control valve

    Symptoms you may notice2

    • Car lacks power and drives poorly
    • Warning symbol and text message in the display

    What the fault can affect1

    • Engine speed (RPM) may be limited

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
