What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has registered an excessive reading on the fuel pressure valve's control line, or excessive current consumption by the valve. Most often the signal wire has come into contact with supply voltage, but the valve itself may be damaged. Engine speed is limited while the fault is present.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Damaged fuel pressure control valve
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, unplug the fuel pressure control valve connector and check the contacts for play and oxidation
- 2With the ignition on and the connector unplugged, use a multimeter on the signal wire; voltage there indicates a short to supply voltage
- 3The fuel system is under very high pressure and can cause injury, so have a workshop carry out all work on the valve
- 4If the fault returns after erasing codes and a test drive although the wiring is sound, have a workshop replace the fuel pressure control valve
Symptoms you may notice2
- Car lacks power and drives poorly
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
What the fault can affect1
- Engine speed (RPM) may be limited
