What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is titled signal missing, it concerns the signal from the built-in air temperature sensor in the mass air flow sensor, which is erratic or outside its range. The cause may be poor contact, moisture or water in the air filter or its housing, or a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- Looseness, contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Water in the air filter or its housing
- Damaged intake air temperature sensor
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check the mass air flow sensor connector for looseness, contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Check the air filter and its housing for moisture and water
- 3If the fault returns when the connectors and filter are dry and sound, have a workshop replace the intake air temperature sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
