What does this fault code mean?
Despite the code title signal missing, it concerns a coolant temperature signal that is erratic or unreasonable. The cause is most often poor contact in the connections or wiring, but the sensor may also be damaged.
Possible causes
- Looseness, contact resistance or oxidation in the connections or wiring
- Damaged engine coolant temperature sensor
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check the connectors to the control module and the coolant sensor for looseness, contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire does not lose contact when you move the wiring
- 3If the connectors and wiring are sound and the fault remains, have a workshop replace the coolant temperature sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- Check engine lamp lights up or behaves abnormally
