What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is titled signal missing, the front oxygen sensor's signal is either outside the permitted values or absent. The usual cause is a break in the signal wire.
Possible causes
- Break in the signal wire
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, unplug the oxygen sensor connector and check the contacts for looseness, contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire does not break when you move it, and has no short to ground
- 3If the wire is sound and the fault remains after erasing codes and a test drive, have a workshop replace the front oxygen sensor
