What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module monitors the signal from the fuel pressure sensor and logs a fault when it is too low. The cause may be poor contact, an open circuit or a short to ground in the wiring, a blocked fuel filter, or a damaged sensor, pump or pressure control valve. The fault can limit engine torque.
Possible causes
- Loose connection, contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Open circuit in the power supply
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Blocked fuel filter
- Damaged fuel pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the connector at the fuel pressure sensor is fully engaged and free from oxidation
- 3The fuel system runs at very high pressure and can cause injury. Have a workshop make pressure checks and check the fuel filter
- 4Follow the signal and power supply wires from the sensor and look for breaks, chafing and places where they may touch ground
- 5With the connector unplugged, use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no connection to ground (the body)
- 6If the fault returns after a road test, have a workshop decide whether the sensor should be replaced
Symptoms you may notice2
- Car drives poorly and lacks power
- Text message and warning symbol in the display
What the fault can affect1
- Engine torque may be limited
