What does this fault code mean?

Although the code is named signal missing, it applies when the fuel pressure sensor reading is uneven or unreasonable. The engine control module monitors the signal and logs a fault when it falls outside the permitted range. The cause is either poor contact in the connectors or a damaged sensor.

    Possible causes

    • Loose connection, contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
    • Damaged fuel pressure sensor

    What you can do

    1. 1Read the fault code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
    2. 2Check that the connector at the fuel pressure sensor is fully engaged and free from oxidation
    3. 3The fuel system runs at very high pressure and can cause injury. Have a workshop make pressure checks
    4. 4Follow the wiring from the sensor and look for looseness, chafing and loose clips
    5. 5If you have a diagnostic tool, check in live data whether fuel pressure reads steadily with the engine running. An uneven value points to the sensor or connector
    6. 6If the fault returns after a road test, have a workshop decide whether the sensor should be replaced

    Symptoms you may notice2

    • Car drives poorly and lacks power
    • Text message and warning symbol in the display

    What the fault can affect1

    • Engine torque may be limited

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
