What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has registered that the fuel pump is not running, even though it sends the signal for the pump to run. The pump is controlled over the CAN network, and the code is stored first in the central electronic module (CEM) and then in the engine control module. The code therefore cannot be cleared until the CEM fault has been remedied.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire, or short to ground
- Damaged fuel pump
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the central electronic module (CEM) first, since this code is stored there first
- 2Fix the CEM faults, then clear the code in the engine control module
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, activate the fuel pump and listen for it to run
- 4Road test and see whether the code returns; if it does, have a workshop check the wiring and the pump
