What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has registered that the fuel pump keeps running even though the control module has sent a signal to switch it off. Here too the code is stored first in the central electronic module (CEM), and that fault must be fixed there before the code can be cleared. The cause is either a signal wire that has come into contact with supply voltage or ground, or a damaged fuel pump.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Damaged fuel pump
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the central electronic module (CEM) first and fix them as those codes direct
- 2Then clear the code in the engine control module and road test to see whether it returns
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, switch the fuel pump off with the tool and see whether it stops
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop check the signal wire for shorts to supply and ground, and the pump
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
