What does this fault code mean?
The control module keeps checking whether the boost sensor reading matches how the sensor should behave. If the signal becomes uneven or falls outside reasonable values, a fault is logged and the control module uses a calculated boost pressure instead. The cause is poor contact in the connections or a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- Loose connection, contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Damaged boost pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check the boost pressure sensor connector: is it fully engaged and free from oxidation?
- 3Follow the cable from the sensor and look for chafing, pinched sections and loose clips
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, check in live data whether boost pressure changes smoothly as the accelerator is pressed and released
- 5If the fault returns after a road test, have a workshop decide whether the boost pressure sensor should be replaced
Symptoms you may notice1
- Check engine light comes on or behaves abnormally
What the fault can affect1
- A calculated boost pressure is used instead
