Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
3 modelsC30 (2007–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module checks the injectors and logs a fault when the signal from the cylinder 1 injector is too low. The fault may be caused by the signal wire being shorted to ground, or by a damaged injector for cylinder 1. The warning lamp comes on, and the fault does not affect the car's other functions.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Damaged injector, cylinder 1
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the connector to the cylinder 1 injector is fully engaged and free from oxidation
- 3Follow the signal wire to cylinder 1 and look for breaks and chafing
- 4With the connector unplugged, use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no connection to ground (the body)
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, activate the injectors. They all start together, so cylinder 1 cannot be tested on its own
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop decide whether the cylinder 1 injector should be replaced
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
