ECM-0262
VOLVO
ECM-0262 - Injector cyl 1. Signal too high
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
3 modelsC30 (2007–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module registers that the signal from the cylinder 1 injector is too high and treats this as a fault. A signal wire that has come into contact with voltage, or a damaged injector, can cause it. The lamp comes on, but the fault does not restrict the car's other functions.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Damaged injector, cylinder 1
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the connector to the cylinder 1 injector is fully engaged and free from oxidation
- 3With the ignition on and the connector unplugged, use a multimeter to see whether the signal wire picks up voltage. If it does, it is shorted to plus
- 4Follow the signal wire to cylinder 1 and look for chafing and places where it may have touched a live wire
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, see whether the cylinder 1 injector value in live data clearly differs from the others
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop decide whether the injector should be replaced
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
