ECM-0264
VOLVO
ECM-0264 - Injector cyl 2. Signal too low
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
3 modelsC30 (2007–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The signal from the cylinder 2 injector is below what the engine control module expects, and the control module treats this as a fault. A signal wire shorted to ground can cause it, as can a damaged injector. The lamp comes on, but the fault has no other consequences for the car.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Damaged injector, cylinder 2
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check the connector to the cylinder 2 injector: is it fully engaged, and free from oxidation?
- 3Follow the signal wire to cylinder 2 and look for chafing, pinched sections and places where it may have touched ground
- 4With the connector unplugged, use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no connection to ground (the body)
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, see whether the cylinder 2 injector value in live data clearly differs from the others
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop decide whether the cylinder 2 injector should be replaced
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
