VOLVO
ECM-0265 - Injector cyl 2. Signal too high
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
3 modelsC30 (2007–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has registered that the injector for cylinder 2 gives too high a signal and treats this as a fault. The fault can be caused by a signal wire that has come into contact with voltage, or by a damaged injector. The lamp comes on, and the fault has no other consequences for the car.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Damaged injector, cylinder 2
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check the connector at the cylinder 2 injector: fully engaged and free from corrosion
- 3With the ignition on and the connector unplugged, use a multimeter to see whether the signal wire picks up voltage
- 4Follow the signal wire to cylinder 2 and look for chafing and pinched sections where it may touch a live wire
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, compare the cylinder 2 injector value in live data with those of the other cylinders
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop decide whether the cylinder 2 injector should be replaced
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
