ECM-0267
VOLVO
ECM-0267 - injector cyl 3. Signal too low
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
3 modelsC30 (2007–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module follows the signal from the cylinder 3 injector and logs a fault when it is too low. A signal wire shorted to ground or a damaged valve can cause this. The lamp comes on, but the car's other functions are not affected by the fault.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Damaged injector, cylinder 3
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the connector to the cylinder 3 injector is fully engaged and free from oxidation
- 3Follow the signal wire to cylinder 3 and look for breaks, chafing and pinched sections
- 4With the connector unplugged, use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no connection to ground (the body)
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, compare cylinder 3 with the others in live data. A clearly differing value points to that valve
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop decide whether the injector should be replaced
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
