What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module logs a fault when the signal from the cylinder 4 injector is too low. The cause may be a signal wire shorted to ground or a damaged injector. The lamp comes on, but the car's other functions are not affected.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Damaged injector, cylinder 4
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the connector at the cylinder 4 injector is fully engaged and not corroded
- 3Follow the signal wire to cylinder 4 and look for chafing, pinched sections and loose clips
- 4With the connector unplugged, use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no connection to ground (the body)
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, compare the cylinder 4 injector value in live data with those of the other cylinders
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop decide whether the cylinder 4 injector should be replaced
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
