What does this fault code mean?
On the diesel engine, the engine control module controls a control valve in the air intake inlet and compares the valve position with a calculated target value. When the position does not match what is expected, a fault is logged. The fault is caused by the valve sticking closed or open, or by damage to the valve.
Possible causes
- Control valve stuck in the closed position
- Control valve stuck in the open position
- Damaged control valve at the air intake inlet
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the engine control module are intact
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool, read the control valve position in live data with the engine running and see whether it changes as the engine revs
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, activate the intake air control valve and listen for it to move
- 4With the engine off, check that the valve moves freely by hand and does not stick
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the control valve and decide whether it should be replaced
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
