What does this fault code mean?
On the diesel engine, the engine control module checks the signal wire to the control valve in the air intake inlet. If the voltage on the wire becomes too high, a fault is logged. The usual cause is the wire having come into contact with supply voltage, or a damaged control valve.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Damaged control valve at the air intake inlet
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the control valve are intact
- 2With the ignition on and the control valve connector unplugged, use a multimeter to see whether the signal wire picks up voltage
- 3Follow the signal wire to the control valve and look for chafing and places where it may have touched a live wire
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, read the control valve signal in live data with the ignition on and see whether it stays constantly high
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop decide whether the control valve should be replaced
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
